Easter 2011

Easter morning, we gave the kids their baskets before church. They had a great time digging through to see what was hiding in each basket. Evan was most excited about his Lego police car and Kaylee loved her new baby bottle.

Kaylee looked so pretty in the new Easter dress that Auntie Kate and Robin has picked out and bought for her. Thanks, ladies!
I had the privilege of teaching the 4yrs-2nd graders class at church that morning. It was so fun to have the little ones act out the Resurrection story and share their favorite Bible stories of Jesus. We got to see our good friends, The Gierkes, too. Kari and I have have really enjoyed getting to know each other the past 6 months or so. Her little girl, Kylie, and Kaylee are just 2 weeks apart and have so much fun together. They are mini BFF's :)After church, we had a nice family get-together at my brother's house in the country. The kiddos got to play and run while we snacked on finger foods and enjoyed the nice company. The boys had a great time running around with the Nerf guns!

Then we got to hunt eggs- 325 eggs in all! Each kid got 40!!!

Bryan and I had a nice time watching the kiddos enjoy the afternoon.

Kaylee was still enjoying Easter before bedtime. She LOVED her bucket and eggs. Silly girl!

Kingsburg Car Show

Enjoying a nice April day at the Kingsburg Car Show with my parents!

Bryan and I enjoying the sunshine. Evan liked the fire truck.
Kaylee in her "car". Just along for the ride!
Some car personality :)
Bryan loves the Corvettes. Maybe someday he'll have one of his own!
Evan so generously sharing his shaved ice with his sister.
Every April, Kingsburg hosts a car show downtown. We have gone almost every year to see the wonderful variety of classic cars as well as some newer ones. This year was no exception. After a few quick stops at yard sales, and a touch-up haircut for Evan, we were downtown and met my parents by about 9:30am. Evan and his cousins played on the old fire truck, we walked Draper Street, ran into friends, snacked on SunMaid raisins... then headed to the park for lunch, shaved ice, and the swings (for Kaylee). It was a beautiful day spent with Nana and Papa!

AWANA Awards Night

Evan has been attending the AWANA Cubbies program at Kingsburg First Baptist for two years now. It's been a great way for him to socialize with other kids his age and be in a classroom type setting since he did not attend preschool. He memorizes scripture each week and recites it back to his leaders in order to earn patches for his vest.

Last year, Evan completed all 26 verses. This year, he has also completed all 26 verses. It is so exciting as a parent to see him hide God's word in his heart and recite it back in times when it applies to his life. He really "gets it".

This year we were able to attend his Awards Night as a family. Kaylee colored to stay occupied until it came time for the actual awards.

Evan was the first up from his group... Look how proud he is of his accomplishment!
After awards, they have an ice cream social in the downstairs hall. Evan LOVES ice cream!
And so does Kaylee :)
Evan is already excited and talking about graduating to the next level of AWANA. This August, he will be old enough to be in "Sparks", which is the K-2nd grade group. I can't wait to see how he grows and matures as he learns how to apply God's word in his everyday life.

Wicked

Bryan and I have wanted to see the show "Wicked" for quite some time now. We planned to see it in San Francisco last summer before family things came up and we nixed those plans. Then, I received an email a few months back that said "Wicked" was coming to the Saroyan Theatre in Fresno. We got tickets as soon as they went on sale. It was well worth the money spent! The show, from costumes to the music, was amazing!!! If you like The Wizard of Oz or just enjoy a great show, this is a must see. We had a great evening out.

Sliding Into Home

Kaylee LOVES to slide. She's been a climber and a slider since she was able to walk. She asks, often, to go to the park but it's not always convenient... so we brought the slides to her. One for in the house and one for the backyard. She's been having a great time sliding throughout the day. It's been tough learning to share with her brother though!

Last week, we finally got to sign Evan up for coaches pitch baseball. He has been asking for months if he could play this year. It just so happens that the league here runs in the summer when Bryan will be available to watch more games. They have been practicing Evan's catching, throwing, and hitting in the backyard. Evan got a new bat, ball, and glove for his 5th birthday last month. They have come in handy already.

Daddy tossing Evan the ball

What a catch!!! We are looking forward to Evan's coach calling in the next week to let us know when practices will be. I think games begin the week of May 2nd.

Climb, Climb, Climb

Yep, Kaylee is a climber. We find her on top of things quite regularly these days. I've started taking pictures of her climbing to show her down the road when she comes to me complaining about one of her kids climbing up everything :)

On the desk...

Up the entertainment tower...

On the kitchen table playing drums with colored pencils and a jar...

Where will we find her next???
